Long Term Wellbeing, What does it take? Time, effort and Dedication.
Improving your wellbeing is not a quick fix, doing one ortwo things every few months is not really enough to create a significant shiftin your levels of wellbeing.
There are 3 keys things that are required to support us increating a positive shift in our levels of wellbeing. Creating significantshifts in our wellbeing will take time, effort and dedication. Consider it abit like undertaking training to become a consistent 10k runner. So, normallyif you plan to run a 10k, you put a training plan in place, you follow thatplan as closely as you can. You take your rest days, you do your run days, youdo your long run days and your short run days, all in the aim of completing the10k. If you do want to continue with your running, you try and run on a regularbasis. Giving your running the time, effort and dedication it requires.
The same could be said about working to improve ourwellbeing. It is not a quick fix process. Working to improve our states ofwellbeing requires time, effort and dedication. Just like we work to train ourbodies for physical endurance we also need to retrain our brains, internalthinking and our daily narrative to improve our wellbeing. It takes reflection, accountability and willingness to change, which in turn support you to start tocreate those shifts that support a long-term sense of wellbeing.
Key areas that need regular mindful attention to promotelong term wellbeing are self-acceptance, personal growth, life purpose, positiverelationships, autonomy, and environmental mastery. Taking the time to be proactivelyengaged in considering these aspects of your life on a regular basis, helps youto explore what may need adapting or improving. Putting the effort intoaddressing those changes will facilitate those changes. Dedication in implementingnew ways of thinking helps those changes become engrained and supports you in yourday to day living.
